The New Thane Creek Bridge, an ambitious project by the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC), has successfully addressed longstanding infrastructure needs. The bridge spans over 100 meters, weighs approximately 1200 metric tonnes, and connects Thane to Navi Mumbai.
Constructing the bridge presented several challenges:
- Land acquisition and construction permissions: Delayed the project significantly.
- Precarious location: The bridge had to be erected 12.5 meters above a water body, posing substantial safety risks.
- Conventional methods: Assembling the bridge on-site was time-consuming and expensive.

- Heavy-duty Modular Towers: Used to lift the 1200 MT Arch Bridge to the required height of 12.5 meters.
- Computer-controlled synchronized Strand Jacks: Ensured precise lifting and alignment.
- Temporary tower structures with customized rollers: Facilitated safe and efficient movement of the bridge.
Execution Process
- Lifting the Arch Bridge:
- The bridge was lifted from the assembly location using Modular Towers equipped with synchronized Strand Jacks.
- Rested on temporary tower structures with heavy-duty rollers.
- Skidding the Arch Bridge:
- Strand Jacks installed on the opposite side of the creek skidded the bridge approximately 120 meters.
- Final alignment and positioning were achieved with hydraulic jacks.
